NI‑9482 forbinder direkte til en bred vifte af industrielle enheder såsom motorer, aktuatorer og DC-enheder. Hver kanal giver adgang til et elektromekanisk relæ til at skifte signaler op til 60 VDC (1 A) eller 250 Vrms (1,5 A), har isolation mellem kanaler, og har en LED, der angiver status. Stødog vibrationsklassificeringen for NI‑9482 er begrænset sammenlignet med andre CompactDAQ- og CompactRIO-moduler på grund af de mekaniske relæer på modulet.
