Der Rail Switch RS2 wurde speziell für den Einsatz im industriellen Umfeld entwickelt. Er unterstützt ETHERNET 10 MBit/s und Fast ETHERNET 100 MBit/s. Die Rail Switch Module ermöglichen geswitchte ETHERNET-Netzwerke nach IEEE-Standard 802.3 in Kupfertechnologie. Die Switch-Module werden auf die Standardschiene gesteckt. Die RS2-TX Module verfügen über acht 10/100 MBit/s Twisted Pair Ports (RJ45-Anschlüsse).
