ה-NI‑9862 הוא ממשק Controller Area Network (CAN) בקצב גבוה ובקצב נתונים גמיש (FD), המיועד לפיתוח יישומים באמצעות מנהל ההתקן NI‑XNET. ה-NI‑9862 מצטיין ביישומים הדורשים מניפולציה בזמן אמת ובמהירות גבוהה של מאות מסגרות ואותות CAN, כגון סימולציה בחוג סגור של חומרה, אבטיפוס מהיר של מערכות בקרה, ניטור אפיק, בקרת אוטומציה ועוד. ניתן לבצע מניפולציה זו תוך ביצוע מדידות אחרות של רכישת נתונים באותה פלטפורמת חומרה NI CompactDAQ, או תוך ביצוע בקרת FPGA ברמה נמוכה וניטור משובץ באותו מארז NI CompactRIO.
