Con funzionalità rigenerativa, l'energia di frenatura del motore viene restituita al drive e distribuita alla rete di alimentazione in modo che possa essere utilizzata da altre apparecchiature. Con la frenatura meccanica o a resistenza l'energia viene dispersa come calore e spesso è necessario un raffreddamento aggiuntivo, mentre il funzionamento rigenerativo del drive offre risparmi significativi nel consumo di energia e nel raffreddamento. Il drive raggiunge un fattore di potenza unitario, il che significa che l'energia elettrica viene utilizzata al massimo potenziale. Dotato di un'unità di alimentazione attiva e di un filtro di linea integrato a bassa armonica, il drive rigenerativo produce un contenuto armonico eccezionalmente basso.
