FTDI USB naar RS485 Seriële UART Converterkabel bevat FTDI's FT232RQ USB naar seriële UART interface IC, die alle USB-signalen en protocollen afhandelt. Deze FTDI converterkabel biedt een snelle, eenvoudige manier om apparaten met een RS485-interface op USB aan te sluiten. Elke FTDI USB-RS485 kabel bevat een klein intern elektronisch circuitbord met de FT232R, dat is ingekapseld in het USB-connectoruiteinde van de kabel. De geïntegreerde elektronica omvat ook de RS485-transceiver plus Txen Rx-LED's die een visuele indicatie geven van het verkeer op de kabel.
